Gravity gets spoofed by The Selfish Giant
Gravity qualifies as British because it was filmed at Pinewood and Shepperton studios outside London, and was produced by David Heyman. The stunning special effects were also the work of a British firm.
Yet it is undeniably a Hollywood spectacle, financed by Warner Bros and starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. The director, Alfonso Cuaron, is Mexican.
By contrast, The Selfish Giant was filmed on a shoestring budget. Its unknown leads play Arbor and Swifty, two boys excluded from school and drawn into the dangerous world of metal theft.
