Shoppers who have ever lost a day in the Ikea's labrynthine maze of ideal dwellings will identify with this parody of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney's deep space film, Gravity set in the Swedish home store.
In the short film, titled Alfonso Cuarón's Ikea, comedians Alex Viola and Daniel Hubbard play a couple entering domestic bliss in an Ikea store, ready to furnish their home. Then peril strikes as Alex 'wanders off'.
As the trailer states: "At over 346,000 square feet, there is no sense of direction, no silence, bad cell service. It's like way too big." As in space, "life in Ikea is impossible."
Cue spoof panic-panting from Viola in the style of Sandra Bullock as she is cast adrift in space. Meanwhile, Hubbard tries to secure her return over the fast-expiring mobile phone - all the while eating Swedish meatballs in the canteen.
As panic sets in, Viola whimpers "if I don't make it, promise me you'll keep shopping."
This is not the first time Ikea's confusing shop layout has been parodied. Last month, Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis played a candid camera prank on a couple of shoppers, blocking off the exits as they browsed.
