After months of rumours and speculation, the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII has been announced - and the original trio of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will return.
The stars, who played Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, respectively, in the original Star Wars trio have kept fans guessing about their return ever since the most scant of details was revealed about the new LucasFilm pictures. Over the past few days Ford and Hamill have been seen in London, causing further speculation that they are involved in the as-yet-untitled film.
The cast also includes Gollum actor Andy Serkis, Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, the 22-year-old actor from Peckham best known for his role in Attack The Block and Daisy Ridley, a little-known British actress who has appeared in Mr Selfridge and Silent Witness.
American rising talent Adam Driver and his Inside Llewyn Davis co-star Oscar Issac are listed along with veteran Swedish actor Max von Sydow.
The cast is completed by other familiar Star Wars faces Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker (Chewbacca, C3P0 and R2D2 respectively).
Director JJ Abrams said in a press release: "It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again."
The film will start shooting in two weeks and will open on 18 December 2015.
