Strictly Come Dancing 2013: first results show, live
19.53 Now it's decision time for the judges. Meep!
19.51 And now it's the turn of Tony and Aliona. Messin' abaht with golf clubs, missed steps, some lifts... Going home?
19.50 First out in the dance-off are Julien and Janette, reprising their tango to Lady Gaga's Applause. Nice bustle (not to be confused with Darcey). Rather than dancing, he's mainly walking around clapping. It's not called Strictly Come Walking Around Clapping, is it?
19.47 While we await the dance-off, time for a few of your Tweets...
@jackiegalbraith Hat on head does not a member of the Ratpack make
@stevmacca OOPS BRUNO! "Tonight she danced beautifully"? We're not suposed to know tonight's show was recorded last night, mate
@louiseeeeeee Quickly remembered how annoying I find the Strictly results shows. Too much padding, not enough substance
19.46 Shouty Julien says he has had a "FABULOUSLY SPARKLING TIME".
19.44 James Jordan looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp. He think it's going to be him and Vanessa Feltz. But it's not, it is indeed Julien Macdonald and Janette Manrara.
19.42 More results now. Who will join Tony and Aliona in the dance-off? Not them. Or them. Or Dave Myers. Surely that's bad news for Julien Macdonald?
19.41 Natalie Gumede's neck. Nice. Shot of Bruno Tonioli counting Deborah Meaden's steps. Thorough.
19.40 He's admiring Susanna Reid's Viennese whirl. Isn't tha a Mr Kipling cake?
19.39 Claudia interviews the judges and it's the return of the legendary slot that is Len's Lens.
19.38 Needs a size up on the jacket.
19.35 Time for tonight's musical guest: Matt Goss, who's now a Michael Buble-alike cabaret act in Las Vegas, singing a swing version of old Bros hit When Will Be Famous? Snug dinner suit and slightly annoying trilby.
19.34 Craig Revel Horwood tells Tony to go for it and give it some energy. Hmm, I fear that might be a struggle. I'm now strangely transfixed by Mark Benton's wig.
19.33 And the first couple in the dance-off is... Tony Jacklin and his partner Aliona Vilani. Big "awww" in the audience. Patronising comments from golf-loving Len Goodman.
19.33 No alarms and no surprises so far.
19.32 Spotlight being deployed. Looks of relief and air-punches all round.
19.30 Results are in. Gulp.
19.28 Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Charleston was the undoubted highlight and top scorer. Natalie Gumede, Abbey Clancy and Susanna Reid also looked good - this is definitely the year of the girls. Ashley Taylor-Dawson and Vanessa Feltz were much-improved. Rachel Riley was a slug in salt. Mark Benton and Dave Myers were big fat fun.
19.25 Recap of last night. Lots of celebrities in make-up chairs and standing around in Elstree corridors.
19.23 Great stuff and a standing ovation in the studio. Here come our hosts, Tess Daly (bodycon black and white frock) and Claudia Winkelman (all in black, including peepy fringe and smoky kohl eyes).
19.22 Saucy stuff. There was some booty-wiggling there. If that spills over into "twerking", I'm calling the police.
19.21 A group dance by the rofeesionals to start, set to Beyonce's Crazy In Love. It involves cages, red vests and talcum powder.
19.20 OK, here we go. It's STRICTLY O'CLOCK! Which of these couples on the credits will be leaving us before 8pm?
19.19 And now one for The Paradise. I'm still slightly surprised that the period shop drama was recommissioned but hey-ho.
19.18 Ooh, brief Doctor Who 50th anniversary teaser trailer. And now one for DIY SOS. Less exciting.
19.16 Countryfile's Matt Baker was good on Strictly, wasn't he? Nice boy. Gymnastic.
19.15 Closing moments of cosy old Countryfile on BBC One at the moment. As Len Goodman might say, it's like chicken soup for the eyes.
19.10 Ten minutes until showtime. OAP golfer Tony Jacklin has finished bottom of the leaderbaord both weeks so far and looks a shoo-in for the dance-off. Dave Myers is second from bottom in the standings but my prediction last night was that the Hairy Biker's hilarious routines and infectious enthusaism will save him. I reckon high-decibel fashion designer Julien Macdonald will appear in the dance-off instead. Not long until we find out...
19.00 Good evening everyone. I'm Michael, your Strictly liveblogger on this Sunday night. I'll be accompanying you through tonight's opening results show, as the 15 pro-celebrity couples pray they won't be subjected to the dreaded dance-off. This year's first elimination looms over the dancefloor like a dark, ominous glitterball. A besequinned Death Star, if you will. It's showtime at 7.20pm, so please join me.
And join in too – you can email me on michael.hogan@telegraph.co.uk, tweet me @michaelhogan or leave comments at the bottom of this blog. I'll do my best to keep an eye on them and report the highlights. Nearly time for someone to stoooooooop dancing!
