Reading and Leeds Festivals 2013 face a muddy start
After one of the hottest summers the UK has seen in years, Reading and Leeds Festival attendees are facing a soggy bank holiday weekend after heavy rain on Thursday and more to come.
American rapper Eminem returns to the festivals after 12 years, taking one of the three headline slots on both sites. Rock bands Biffy Clyro and Green Day top the bill for the rest of the weekend with supporting performances from Nottingham singer-songwriter Jake Bugg and dubstep producer Skrillex.
The festivals officially opened today with many revellers having braved overnight downpours to bag themselves a prime spot to watch their favourite bands. Some 87,000 people are expected at the Reading site each day over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Tonight, Green Day will headline the main stage in Berkshire after sets from System Of A Down and Deftones, while Welsh rockers Biffy Clyro will close this evening's events in Leeds.
Although both sites have experienced good, dry weather today, rain is expected later tonight in Reading and Leeds, which will continue on Saturday but improve with temperatures reaching between 18 and 20 degrees. Sunday is expected to be drier.
