The BBC have released new tantalising pictures of Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) as he looks distinctly peeved at the union of his friend Doctor John Watson (Martin Freeman) with his girlfriend Mary Morstan (Freeman's real-life partner Amanda Abbington). Sherlock has been accustomed to sharing his life, indeed his home at 221b Baker Street, with Watson. How well he will cope with Watson getting married remains to be seen.
Tonight's episode The Sign of Three, on BBC One at 9pm, focusses on Watson's wedding and on the speech that the nervous best man Sherlock must give. Will he carry it off? Will he at least be able to emulate real human emotion when he's talking about his friend, even if he doesn't really feel it? The likelihood of there being a dastardly crime for him to solve at the same time may make him feel on firmer ground.
